In 1990s Hollywood, a dismissive casting director (CD) inadvertently insults Frank, a Deaf actor, with a botched attempt at sign language and low expectations of Deaf actors. Frank delivers a terrible audition but goes off the point convincing conspiracy theory about humans being replaced by machines. Though terrified, the CD is deeply moved by his vulnerability. After Frank reveals the “eye” and departs, the captivated CD immediately talks to the producers. Whether or not Frank wins the role, he celebrates his triumph in shifting perspectives about Deaf actors and ownership of his audition by signing a song as he walks down Hollywood Boulevard.
